yeah he is crated all day while we are at work and he sleeps in his crate at night all night. I think it would be cruel if I put him in his crate while we are home for the few hours we have together between getting home and going to sleep. We go out twice in the am before we leave in the am, and we go out at least three times before bed with one of those being a long walk or trip to the park to run around in the baseball diamond. He just got his second shots so we will be able to hit the dog parks near us in the next 8 days or so and then I will be a lot more comfortable letting him run offleash. My bitty whippet...
Oh my! He is a pretty thing (don't tell him though...their egos, ya know) I think you are right to look forward to the time at the dog park. Tucker him out with exercise and he will not have any energy to be bored and destructive. Miss Guinness, a border collie of supposedly endless energy, was run off her feet the first few years with us. It was a hard run, especially if she went visiting our neighbours but it never took that much time. There were a few destructive incidents - she once thought some of my baby books from work were toys. Eventually, she just knew her time to be wild and crazy and her time to be quiet. And from what I know about whippets, they do like their quiet time.
I tell him all the damn time that he is pretty, he is a spoiled pretty pup! He is getting pretty good at knowing what he can and cannot play with thank goodness. And we are slowly getting more puppy proof.

My two love their crates and will often go in on their own for naps.

Puppies do take a lot of attention while growing enough brain cells to learn their manners. I can't wait to meet him - what is his name?
