It had taught him that he could build, it had allowed him to walk among ordinary people and get to know them instead of watching them from his ivory tower.
It's interesting to me to think it's wearing the suit that allows him to interact with people, that being a billionaire separates him even more.
I feel like I know Tony a little better because of this. Thanks! And you do know that you fanfiction heyday is on its way, with the new movie... as long as it doesn't suck...
Ahh, now I have to start finding out more about this, I don't know that much about Iron Man aside from what you have told me in past convos..as far as the fic goes, I like it. I like the "Oh well, a billionaire's job is never done...aha...
Not bad. You make Tony more human and down to earth here, which is very refreshing after everything that has happened with the character since Civil War. I enjoyed the part where he was taking down the bad guy and that he can still be contacted while in the armor. I've always loved what his armor can do.
The advantage I have with this particular WIP is that it's set in the middle of Kurt Busiek's run on Iron Man (Volume 3, #1-24, with the story itself occurring after #14). As a result, we have a Tony Stark who is much closer to the hero people viewed him to be, albiet he still retains some of the characteristics he will have which ultimately become exaggerated in Civil War.
While I can believe Tony's actions in that mini, based in part on his actions in the Armor Wars and with his many dealings with the government, I maintain that Tony was written at his best and in-character JUST PRIOR to Civil War (see Iron Man Extremis/Volume 4, #1-6; and Iron Man: The Inevitable [6-part mini]). When Stark believes in something, he'll do what it takes, sure - but he tends not to be a complete irredeemable bastard while doing so, if he can help it!
Even then, following Civil War in both his own book (Well done, Knaufs!), and to an extent in both Captain America & Mighty AvengersI'm just glad that in the movie, he'll be his lovable-asshole self
