Debatery

I watced the full ninety minutes and came away feeling more than a bit "meh" about the whole thing. I think it went on for too long - after a hour I was ready for the end. The lack of audience reaction didn't work well for me either.

I thought Cameron had the best opening and closing, and that Clegg was the best at answering the questions. But the ( Read more... )

A Labour win? Blimey, you are feeling down today.

Still, if you're looking to place bets on a Labour victory, I'll take that bet. I bet you the Conservatives win more seats than Labour at the next election. Tenner?

I'm down but I'm not bonkers. I can get 4 to 1 from William Hill on that one.

Tories are 7 to 1 on.

Damn, I was hoping to make some free money. You'd be surprised how much I made from berserk oafs claiming that John McCain was going to win the US Presidency.

I watched the thing as well

The audience were under strict instructions
Only clap at the begining and the end, no other time
Ask your question then shut up
Debators couldn't ask the questioners things directly
and so on

I thought Clegg did very well and I think he raised the profile of the Lib Dems for people that were watching.

It will be interesting to see how the other two debates go

Interesting that Gordon didn't have a Red tie on but a Pink tie
Cameron and Clegg had Blue and Yellow ties respectivly.

What was more ammusing was the #leadersdebate thread on twitter, though that was mostly people making jokes and pointing out various things like Cameron's "I went to X place and met Y minority and they told me about Z awful thing that happened"
as well as Gordon's "I agree with Nick"

Scriven's standing in Sheffield Central which is the only marginal in the city. I assume the national socialist comment is aimed at David Blunkett who's MP for Brightside. So you're right, it's no choice at all because they're standing in different constituencies :)

Oops. I'd gotten into my head that Scriven was standing against Blunkett.

I guess it's been a long week.
