So, earlier tonight, I decided I wanted to expand my crafting horizons and...picked up a couple knitting needles. I will not say how long it took me to figure out the whole casting on thing (and really, the two techniques I found on wikiHow are like night and day as far as difficulty goes.) Right you are! Oh gosh, it was nuts and good and crazy/panicky Eight in the beginning? *flail!* Paul McGann plays insane SOOOOOOOO well! And I started Invaders from Mars as well and you're right about the transition music ^^;; But I need to listen to it again because partway through I was getting into all that knitting mess and started tuning bits of it out. Yay, knitting! I agree that crochet is way easier (I gave up on knitting the first time I tried for many of the same reasons you have for being frustrated), but it gets better. It just takes practice. Now, I love it ( ... )

I'm actually not doing too bad now that I'm pushing forward and trying not to get hung up on how the last couple stitches looking weird on the needle.

But yeah, I'm using a cotton yarn so I can turn these little samples I'm making into small dish clothes or something. I've got plenty of scarves ^^; I think I've got the knit stitch down now. I'm going to try the purl one later and then try to alternating it and making things more complicated from there.

When I actually do get to the pattern (it's really only variations of knit and purl stitches in different quantities), I'm definitely going to need to write down the number of rows and mark them off as I go because right now? I...can't tell how many rows I've got ^^; Crochet rows are easier to count. And I think I will have to steal some of Mom's stitch counters for when I attempt anything bigger.

I'll definitely bring my needles along! Didn't know Amity knits either. How cool ^.^

I know what you mean about counting. I'm making a striped scarf right now and trying to make the stripes the same width. I've almost screwed it up a couple of times now. :)
