Let us talk of important things! Or, failing that, let us talk about Law & Order!

More specifically, let's talk about Law & Order, gender and sexuality. I have a theory which I would like to see if stands up, which links to a theory that only exists for my amusement, a random comment, and finally a question.

1. Queering the assumption of heteronormativity )

4. Hey, can you be a Catholic WASP? By which I mean does WASP-ishness relate exclusively to British immigrants or is now a broader term which just means (rich) white people?

My father is Irish Catholic and my mother is mixed Lutheran.

You cannot be a Catholic WASP. At any given socioeconomic level, the Catholics will have a higher-volume family life than the Protestants: more people, but also *louder*.

Catholics *hate* being called WASPs, especially Irish Catholics.

In my experience, Germanic and Scandanavian Protestants *also* hate being called WASPs, but that may just be my family.

This was my feeling too, but Wikipedia seemed to think that the meaning has mutated to just mean rich white person, whereas Ive always associated WASPs with that sort of repression of emotioned that is stereotypically associated with Englishness; thus WASPs would only really be protestants and mostly British protestants.

Thank you for your help!

That's why I call Wikipedia "the source of all half-knowledge".

1. I find your thoughts interesting! I know nothing about it, but I find them very interesting, nonetheless.

4. I would also say no, especially since WASPs have sorta faced off with Catholics for a large part of the history of the United States.
