omfg! my friends and family are the best!!!!!!!
so yesterday i went shopping with jen (my bff's girlfriend). we had planned this for about a month or so 'cause she wanted to buy tricia her xmas gift and since tricia would be working overtime, it was the perfect day to go.
we shopped a bit and we had reservations to eat at gibson's steakhouse (jen said she had a gift certificate that was about to expire). suddenly we get a call, right before we were going to leave for gibson's, that sophia's car wouldn't start (she's tricia's sister) and she had to pick up her son from a birthday party and no one was picking up their phones so could we go help her out? so we said we would - i mean, how could we not?
we get to sophia's house and jen tells me to go ring the doorbell to get sophia. i do and she yells from somewhere in the house to come in... the house was really dark (which i did think was unusual, but i figured we were leaving so she turned off all lights - also, i had this brief thought to myself: boy, it's really smells like kentucky fried chicken in here...she must had that for dinner today). i only entered right into the doorway and sophia asked me where jen was and for her to come in... so i went back out and signaled to jen to come in... then i went back in and walked toward the kitchen when suddenly....
...the lights went on and people were yelling SURPRISE!!!!!!
omfg.
i was so surprised that it took me a a bit to figure out it was a surprise party for me! for my 40th birthday! which isn't until dec 28th which is why i was so totally surprised!
but then i started seeing all the faces...and i heard PRINCE playing! awesome! my parents, my brother and his wife and my nieces, i saw tricia (obviuosly NOT working overtime!) and my sister and of course, sophia...then i started seeing more familiar faces: sparky77 (who took video!! and will upload at some point), sydney33, and it sank in that the party was for me! lol!! ... and then i saw maryquesera, lulkin, lunda, chivenger, nicole, jesse g, my sil's brothers and their wives (her brothers had brought all their dj equipment!), my sil's mom, rhobyne, sophia's kids, tricia's brother tom and his kids, a few of tricia's softball teammates, tricia's cousin nick, and kernelm called to wish me a happy birthday and virtualinsomnia wished me one too, (and omg i hope i didn't miss anyone here),
it was fucking amazing!
tricia, jen and linda were the masterminds behind this whole thing - and they told me they'd been planning it since about july!!! holy shit!
so the music was blasting and people were eating and drinking... i went around to take pictures with everyone and i hope i didn't miss anyone - i was a bit overwhelmed! and then we danced! and holy crap there were presents!!!
...and! my sister had looked through all our family photos and made up 3 huge posterboards with pictures of me from when i was a baby 'til now! lol! everyone really got a kick out of that... and i do promisde to scan the "scary" 80's picture so everyone can enjoy my extemely serious expression... :D
i got the most awesome things! tricia, jen and linda pitched in and bought me a GPS system!!! woo! everyone immediately commented that i would not get lost any more! hee! and i got loose leaf tea, and voooodkaaaaa, and bailey's and a blouse, some old lady sleeping pants (ha!!!), some cute xmas socks, and omg sydney33 gave me the supernatural origins comics!, and i got a fruity oaty lunch box, and omg nicole got me a high school musical blanket featuring zac efron's face!! and i also got s4 spn eps on dvd, and there were gift cards and cash and omg some funny ass cards... and most hilarious of all - a box of ROCK SALT so i can keep the evol ghosts out! lol!!!
i didn't read any of the cards 'cause i knew that if i did i would cry..and sure enough i did bawl a little when i read them later at home...
this really cracked me up: it's from tricia's card... there is me trying to convice tricia to watch firefly and it's on tv over to the right - the ship flying in the air and simon and mal below the ship...and tricia telling me one of her many excuses not to watch... (and she did watch eventually - um, it took me about a year of randomly asking her to watch - and she liked it!!)
sophia took this of me when they were almos done cleaning up... it was about 2:30am
