Zero-centric discussion post.

Feb 09, 2012 18:10

As the last discussion post went by peacefully, I figured I could make another one, I'm rather curious. This time it will be Zero-centric instead. :)

If he's your favourite character, why do you like him? When did you decide he's your favourite?
Alternatively, if you dislike him or are neutral about him, why?

Please, stay polite, I don't want to see ( Read more... )

Kaien Cross is my favorite, Zero is second :)

I liked him from the first time I saw him, immediately, and I really can't say why. Maybe it's because he displayed emotions openly, they're always written on his face. It's a trait I admire in men, because in my experience it's so rare for them not to hide what they feel. They tend to think that displaying emotions is lame for some reason... But I think that what is lame is to hide emotions, you have to be really insecure to do that.

I don't really like how he mopes about being a vampire, though, could never identify with that. And all that hate. Even strong feelings gradually die, but for him it's like everything happened yesterday and there's no present.

In other words, I like that he's emotional and open, but I can't fully identify with the kind of emotions that he has.

Woah, so many Zero fans XD I can't guess anymore why so many people like him.

As for me, my fave's Ichijou. For some reason I just really liked him after reading through the manga for the first time. The way he acts towards humans as a noble vampire is so adorable, and I really wished all vampires were like him. Because that way it would be peaceful, right? :D

It's not just because of that handsome face, blonde hair and green eyes (to be honest I think I do have a fetish for blondes), it's also because his gentle attitude is making the atmosphere of every scene very calm and usual. His gentle attitude merged with his serious side makes it even better. He has a straight and definite sense of right and wrong, such as when he decided to fight against Kaname because his best friend was on the wrong path.

Overall, he's really elegant, graceful and cheerful. That's the second I most like with vampires. They shouldn't be completely dangerous~

My second fave is...who else could it be, Zero of course XD

But yeah, if I were to talk about Zero, I'd say the same as everyone else. His powerful emotions every chapter are getting through me and makes me say "Nooo, Zero, you can't be like this/that" XD

Hmm. Zero was back then my favorite. And of course up until now, I still like him as my second. If I were to say my views about him, it's because he's natural. Although it would be better if he gets cheerful and graceful sometime like Kaname and Ichijou :D And he displays a lot of emotions as well~

Because I also side with the pairing ZeKi all this time, it's never a doubt why he's my favorite. XD And I do have this straight feeling that Zero should have been the main character alongside Yuuki all this time. :))

*sorry for elaborating about Ichi above, it's to point out that Zero should be like him too, even sometime~

I always thought that Ichijou was merely pretending because of his 'good manners' upbringing. Like a polite host would say "It was so nice to have you at my house! Please, come again!", but after you leave through the door he'll think to himself "Why did it take her so long to leave?!"

Of course, I'm not sure of that, but that's the lasting impression he left on me :)

I think I saw that somewhere, too, maybe in one of the official VK novels posted here. The fakeness of Ichijou. But it's probably not worth talking about, I don't think that these novels can be considered fully canonical.

It wasn't from the novels. It was from the fanbook, so it is canon, actually.

For me , Zero has more fans around here because is easier to identify with his conflicts . A human who is losing his humanity and tries to grab to it as far as he can . One with strong will - power . A human fighting to avoid turning into a bersek beast vampire ( ... )

Im not a zero fan, Mainly because Hes' so mean to Kaien.

He's so ungreatful for everything Kaiens done for him. I almost cant bear it. The way He trash talks Kaien and insults the hunter
when in all honesty he should be idolizing Kaien.

-Kaien didnt have to take in zero but he did
- Like Zero Kaien was a twin, but unlike zero he defeated his other in the womb
-Like Zero Kaien's got a very personal pureblood related curse.
-Kaien's mother was like Yuuki making him very relatable to yuuki as well.

He adopted two kids who are very closely connected with who he is. Im not bashing Zero but I am saying I dont like
his obvious ingratefulness for this one person in his life who has done alot for him.

I don't think using the words "ungrateful" or "ingrate" is appropriate to describe Zero's way of dealing with Kaien. Zero was and still is pretty young, and it takes most people longer to warm up to their own parents [maybe never]. With Zero, it just so happens it is a little bit MORE difficult for him to open up to people, and you can't really fault him for that. Also, I don't think Kaien minds the way he is to him at all. It seems he loves pushing his Yuuki and Zero's buttons as much as he can to get a rise out of them. :] I've never seen their interactions in a bad light, and knowing someone does is a little disheartening ( ... )

Actually, Yuukis always been cold to Kaien as well. On the vampire knight manga website there was an 8page discussion on how Yuukis never shown any care for kaien, she's almost seemed to think him just a thorn in her side. But getting back to zero, it's true kaien doesn't mind that zeros so mean mainly because he dismisses it as just childish behavior. Kids can be rude to their guardians because they don't care. But despite the teasing and ragging Kaien does truly care whereas I really don't think zero does ( ... )

ok. But I'll just say that It is common for children to view their parents as a "thorn in their side" when in their teen years. That is the typical teenage stereotype, after all. [Not to mention Kaien seems to intentionally emphasize the whole doting father thing to be amusing. I've seen kids IRL become embarrassed for much less, but that doesn't make either party involved bad] Yuuki was raised by Kaien and Zero was taken care of by him... and in a way, Yuuki does care about him more than Zero does, but that should be a given since Zero was 13 and didn't have the time to actually accept him as a father figure... seeing as how his own parents were murdered right before his very eyes. He is so closed off emotionally due to this trauma, along with being bitten/changed, that he seems to have shut down most of his emotions. He doesn't interact with anyone unless he has to. But just reading some of the extra special chapters, it's plain to see that Kaien picks on him for just this reason, he wants to get a rise out of him and drag him out ( ... )
