By then, I was actually groaning from the sheer stupid I was being subjected to.
*giggles* I love that line. I have to say that I rarely agree with critics, and rarely agree with Oscar noms. Both seem driven by the same sort of, to borrow your word, batshit crazy weirdness that drives people to make films like Black Swan or, in the case of critics, declare them "masterpieces".
This movie was a real letdown. Apart from Natalie Portman this had every ingredient for a good movie for me: ballet, a little dark, Vincent Cassel (lol), character driven. But from some point forward, it just descended into over-the-top scenes that didn't make any sense.
I have moments where I don't agree with critics (and the world). "The Life of Pi" was one such instance - I absolutely HATED that book. But I'm just a lowly nobody, I can easily say I hated something. I guess it's much harder if you're an important critic...
I've been thinking a bit more about it (also, I've been reading the negative reviews on the IMDB) and I think this is basically a slasher movie with way too much other stuff going on on the side. It's really gross at times to the point where my friend had to close her eyes. But all that was just for show, it would have been much more interesting to have actual characters going from point A in their character development to point B.

She really morphs into a black swan? Seriously? Yuck.
I didn't even watch the Oscars this year, they bore me so!
