The weekend before last, we had some friends to Sunday lunch, and, with all of us being of a certain age, one of them at one point talked about needing a cataract operation in the near future. I've also recently been diagnosed with (very premature) vitreous detachment, having had a big floater right in the middle of my field of vision in the left eye for over e year. Annoying, but not worrisome. Fingers crossed for it not being the retina, and much sympathy on the blob.

Sounds as if he knows what he's talking about. But a second opinion will be reassuring.
