So in Acoustic Funeral (For the Love in Limbo)...Limbo can be referred to as in the edge of Hell or as in "any status where a person or project is held up, and nothing can be done until another action happens"
i personally always took it to mean....i don't know that it's neccessarily the Chrstian version but to mean between life and death. so in essence waiting for something to happen.
I usually think of limbo as a time of dangling, waiting...in between.
But in this, there are so many deathly references...starting with "funeral" "missed the winter (death) but it followed you back home," "to disown the golden mean" (not taking the middle ground,) "dancing with tags on our toes" (like cadavers in the morgue,) "saved my last breath" (before death) "turning blue" (dying,) "one last thing," "killing love"......that it seems more like the First Circle of Hell (Dante.) Struggling to make this love work, but feeling like the edge of hell.
Thanks :) I was listening to the song and I was like "Hmmm, what does this mean?" because I really didn't know what he what he was talking about with Limbo. Then I heard it used as a place...and it just all clicked and got this started
Yeah! See I think it really can be taken both ways. Because there are so many hints to actual Limbo and being in limbo.
It's so funny because today I actually heard someone use the term of being in limbo. I was giggling to myself. It's like once you learn about something new you suddenly notice everywhere
Limbo is a dark place and there is no sense of time. People there will wait until a desicion is made if they go the heaven or hell. This depends if such people were good or bad and even if other people pray for them. Thus, the limbo is like a small punishment to those who do not live a very good life but not bas one either. I guess ville was saying that he didnt know in which directon his love life was ging, he was kinda lost and left in the dark. :)
Yeah, you explained it in a way as which the terms are both correct but can easily be swapped (if what I just said makes sense, haha). So I see how I guess Ville was probably doing the same in the lyrics. Making it so it can be taken either way
I think it depends a lot from the person, but Limbo can take a wide set of interpretations as you mentioned above, and that´s one of the genius qualities on Ville´s lyrics, imo
( ... )
Mhm, see that's what I originally thought because Ville is a master of beautiful lyrics. Both meanings fit and it's just very, very interesting and cool :)
And aha, I know what you mean on the meaning of HIM songs change from day to day or what mood you're in. It's what I love about them :D
Good! That´s great! And Love them for that as well! It´s magic how same song can sound or represent something totally different according to our daily circunstances. I think not all bands can say this and definitely HIM fits whatever, whenever wherever whoever and forever! ;)
