Tutorial 69

Sep 12, 2011 13:06

I've been looking around at a ton of gorgeous graphics on livejournal and some of the selective coloring I would love to do but I no longer have photoshop, particularly this coloring I'll be going over. So! I set out to figure it out and this is what I came up with. I hope you like it and that it's useful! (:

I'm absolutely a newbie when it comes to GIMP so I'm playing to learn. So I have a question: when you do the first merge all the dialogue box asks if 1) expand, 2) clip to image or 3) clip to bottom layer. Which should we use? I'm going to assume expand as it appears to be the default.

I'm using GIMP 2.6.11 for windows.

awesome! :D I generally clip to the bottom layer because if you expand, it makes the image move or widen. I'm not really sure about he clip to image, I just play it safe and stay with the bottom image.

I'm playing around with am image that has a lot of blues that I want to deepen but I'd also like to enhance the red of the face. Your example clearly enhances the green and red. BTW, it's beautiful. But I have a nasty bit of white right adjacent to the face that's really giving me fits for saturation.

thank you! (": that was my goal, though sometimes some of my pictures I had to change a bit because the coloring technique made it too much.
may I see your picture that your using?
