The mangaka of Silver Spoon, who's also the mangaka of FMA, grew up on a cow farm in Okinawa and worked there before going manga pro (and of course also went to an agricultural high school) - after FMA ended she wrote a one shot of four koma and one page sketches (I was able to get that as an ebook when Jmanga still was alive) and it must have been so successful that they told her to try a comedy set there - and that has REALLY taken off. She won one of the big manga awards last year and the tankubon are selling in the millions.
Because of having read the scanlations of Silver Spoon I am actually collection the omnibus editions of FMA now, heh.... Hiromu Arakawa, that's the name, I think.
Really, same mangaka then FMA? Wow. I didn't know that. Actually my reason was different then by the main of Silver Spoon, and it wasn't any kind of adventure. Maybe cause I liked animals to begin with. Also, I can not understand how with basic biological knowledge one can not know from where they get food like ham and eggs, no matter if city or village folk. For me it was more difficult to talk to people, as I'm not into fashion or sport. In the end I was always in the library, and it seems everyone has an image of me with a book, reading.
Same as me ^^ - just not in the library. During the break and sometimes furtively in boring lessons if I was lucky (mostly in subjects I was good at and in the higher classes, heh).
