Further to this post, the user has now come back and told me that she is using Firefox and Windows Vista.

Can anyone suggest what in her settings might be preventing her from uploading images?

Try temporarily disabling the pop up blocker. (Or add the CMS site to the Allowed Sites/Exceptions list) I've seen that cause issues before. (Exact location depends on Firefox version. Should be under Options - Content tab.)
Have you tried asking on the Telligent site? Looks like they have a knowledge base and a user forum. http://telligent.com/support/

That's what we did in the end. I tested it from my end using a recent FF release and duplicated the error - my colleague who was using an older release wasn't able to. So it looks like something recent, maybe in the security settings? Anyway we're asking the web dev company to look into it as a bug and have advised her to try using IE or Chrome as those don't show the same error.

Try using Internet Explorer...

And also what version of Firefox...

Also Google Toolbar can be an interfering arse.

Vista isn't an issue... IMHO...
