A few more holiday drabbles-turned-ficlets ...

Feb 11, 2011 16:49

A/N: Both of these kind of got away from me, especially the second for joyypg. Sorry it's more Juliet than Charlotte, and more friendship fic than something shippy (with some added Miles and minor Daniel/Charlotte and Juliet/Jack) -- hope you still enjoy!

For lenina20:

Charles/Eloise, the only exception )

character: miles, pairing: daniel/charlotte, character: eloise hawking, character: charles widmore, pairing: jack/juliet, character: juliet, pairing: charlotte/juliet, pairing: charles/eloise, character: charlotte

I'm so sad that I don't have enough time to give proper feedback right now (RL is evil) but I LOVED the Charlotte/Juliet. Some day I promise to come back and tell you why!

Aww, thank you so, so much! I wrote this in less than an hour, which almost never happens, and I wasn't sure what I thought of it, since I was worried it didn't really fit into the prompt and isn't very shippy ... so your comment is very, VERY appreciated! :D

Commenting on your Charles/Eloise one first, glad to see someone writing fic about two of the most interesting, but underutilized characters on the show. Very interesting place for the two of them to meet, right before Charles leaves for the Island where he will lose his life, and in the Church of all places.

Very in character for Eloise, letting people know that they aren't in control of their ultimate fate and that there isn't much that they can do about it.

Also nice to see you exploring certain aspects of Charles Widmore, never got to know Daniel, and never got to know his grandson.

The ending is poignant, knowing ultimately what happens next.

Thank you so, so much for the wonderful feedback! I know not many people are a fan of Charles and Eloise, considering their actions in the show, but I definitely think they're two fascinating characters, especially because of their flaws. I was totally taken with them in S5, when Charles became more than Ben's foil and Eloise not just the creepy old lady bugging Desmond.

I feel like, especially in light of Charles' return to the island, that he's much more of a believer in free will, where Eloise (I think) was following the island's will or Jacob's will in going through with the actions leading to Daniel's death. Which is where this ficlet came from. :)

And thank you again, so much, for taking the time to read and leave your feedback!
