Perfect prompt, perfect execution.

He can't save her.

(He promises anyway.)

This is particularly poignant - and then the last line; well done!

Thanks so much!

And I'm so glad you liked that line -- for me, at least, it's something that really resonates about Dan, that he must know deep down he's likely to face tragedy again, but won't ever admit it to himself.

Ahh, so sad, their lives are just a constant, desperate cycle, beautifully written.

Thank you so much!

And yes, they're all pretty tragic, eh? All of them stuck in this doomed cycle, even in canon. Not exactly cheery, but so much fun to write. ;P

Yeah, my money's on him being a precocious little genius at that age. ;P

I've always wanted to expand on my own personal belief that he sees his future -- snippets, at the very least -- and then forgets thanks to all the experimentation, and that for everything he tries he always comes back to the same place.

Thanks again!

*flails*

*dies*

This is too beautiful. I am just . . . guh. I'm running on NO time but I simply couldn't put off reading this any longer--and oh my God. So worth it. Your Dan--ahhhhhhh. Your WRITING--so jealous. The way the first and last sections mirror each other is so effective, and every word in between so perfect. You really are the master of these two. Really.

LOL, thank you so much! What a fantastic reaction; I'm so flattered!
*blushes deeply* This really came to be out of the blue, and I kind of felt like I was retreading the same old ground, so your feedback is very, very, very much appreciated. :D
