Well, it really made the most sense for it to be Colby because of his stint in Afghanistan. He would have been far more likely than David to have seen the consequences of this type of action.

Whump? On poor Donny? Didn't he get enough of that already in what we saw of the episode? Hard to add to it without being repetative (another flatline) or negating the ending (up in a few days). Doesn't leave much room to play with.

Crap. Never mind any of that, I have a bunny.

I really need to find a way to stop them from multiplying this quickly. I only just got another one in the shower ten minutes ago, also angsty!Don spawned (from all things) of the schmoop entry I'm typing up.

*sigh*

I love that last line, and how all the dialogue was. It was amazing.

However (sorry, the beta in me is begging to say this) the nearly in "remember nearly three years ago?" sounds... weird. You could probably take it out, if you wanted to. c: If not, then disregard this comment. <3

Wow, thanks! The dialogue is what made me write this fic (well that and showing just how much both Colby and Don have changed since early season 3), so I'm glad that came across so well.

No, constructive criticism is always appreciated.
As I stated in the author's notes, this drabble was originally shorter, only about 160ish words. Too much to cut down to 100, so I brought it up to 200 and had to work to get that. I didn't originally have the 'nearly' in there but then thought that it hasn't quite been 3 years, so it got added in.

And yes, the tie in totally works. I even recall in 36 Hours Don warning Nikki not to be like him so Don would definitely try to stop Colby from going down that road.

I totally agree that it was the heat of the moment that sent Colby to that dangerous edge. It was his teammate, his boss, and that's not something you can easily keep your head over.

True and with Don it was much the same, only there was no one to stop him and someone to encourage him.
