I wrote this story a few years ago, on this made-up holiday in February. Last summer, when everything went pear shaped, I sent it in to a competition, and it won an honourable mention. Aw, I still love it. I like the change, too, the other way was true, but this way is more accessible to the casual reader.

Yes, that was the point. I regretted the eye line shortly after it was sent away, and wondered if the readers would be like "what the hell?" but this way it ties in, instead of just being a comment on my stupid eye.

I'm going to fix up the "sequel" but I'm still not sure I'll ever let Dad read it.
