A sobering day at school.

 Today we learned about many subjects.

First we learned all about Alzheimer's and how to care for not only the patient but the family that is affected by AD.  The patients are relatively easy, the families are the ones in the most need of help.  Very sad to realize that most of the work involved is trying to help the survivors cope.

Back in the early 80's, I was working in a nursing home as an NA. I lost several patients I had gotten to love. It was hard. Some days I really couldn't deal and had to go home to cry ( ... )

yeah, my mom works as a chaplain for hospice. and does funerals. she does funerals. sometimes at the drop of a hat. it's an amazing thing to be able to do, and do well.
