Yeah, this episode didn't do much for me either. I spent most of it frowning and wanting to shake Adama, first for being mopey and drunk, and then for GIVING GAIUS GUNS.
Also, I think Ellen might actually be evil. I was kind of excited at first to see her being more Ellenish, since I found her personality reboot a little jarring last week, no matter how awesome she was. But then she becamse too Ellen-ish, and I remembered why I never liked her before.
What WAS that? I was going along with Gaius in all he was saying about the people being disgruntled, but how is arming his cult in any way a solution to that problem?!?
Also, what did the women mean about how Gaius had abandoned them and "stayed away so long"? They persuaded him to leave (not that he really needed persuading, but they thought he did) and the mutiny lasted, what, two days? And the last time we saw him, wasn't he all "I must return!"?

EXACTLY. The friends I was watching with and I kept saying, "It's been like, two days, right? Why are they flipping out like this?" Gaius even said he'd been gone for "three minutes" at one point. I don't know.
Also - I just read the TWOP recaplet for the episode, and somehow I totally missed that the little boy named Gaius is actually Gaius's kid? Is that right? How did I miss that?
What I did enjoy, was watching Adama deteriorate along with his ship. Watching him and Roslin is like watching A King and Queen who's kingdom is slowly slipping away. I love it. But aside from that the episode was pretty bogus. I didn't want to see old Ellen again. I like the strongly maternal character she put forth in the last episode. It seemed like she was above the Lady Macbeth thing she had going before.

The more I think about those elements (baby Liam, bad Ellen), the more mad I get.

Although I kept thinking they should just all watch an episode of Big Love and try to work things out . . .
