Oh, so I have to tell you. First day of classes yesterday, I had the students fill out an info card - name, major, contact info etc. Also threw Favorite Books & TV Shows on there for kicks.

Among the many exciting and terrifying responses I got to this prompt, one was "the Twighlight series."

So clearly, all the time I spent reading Cleo's Read more... )

Eeep.

Well, I suppose it's not too surprising. The spelling, on the other hand...

I asked mine for their favorite superheroes, LOL.

Twilight... Egad. English teachers exist for the purpose of rectifying this kind of situation.

Hey now, there's nothing wrong with Twilight! I'm not saying it's great literature or anything, but it's hardly the worst thing ever published the way some people seem to think.

Don't you just love those moments that make you weep for the future of humanity? I had a few of those moments back when I worked at the public library.

I saw a girl on the T today - rather plain-looking with boring hair and glasses but trying to look punk with a tattoo on her chest and a hot pink leopard print tank top that she was just a little too chubby to wear. I thought to myself that, based on your description, she's probably a Twilight fan.
