Garrrh. Help!

I've never had a bad experience buying from an Amazon Marketplace seller before, but I guess there has to be a first for everything. I ordered a TV season box set and it arrived in only a week, I'll give them that. But the slipcase is missing, the inner box is beat up and the discs are scratched. This was described as "Very Good" condition. Uh ( Read more... )

How much was it to begin with? I mean, $6 off $40 doesn't really mean much. But if it was $20 to begin with, it may be worth it to keep the set...

Also, do all the disks work (albeit scratched?).

I HATE dealing with this sort of thing, so if I were you I'd prob just accept the $6 and consider it a done deal. But I'm not exactly smart with money...

It was $20, so $6 off is a fair deal for sub-par copy - I'm just not sure I want said copy. Aesthetics aside, two of the discs are very, very scratched and though they seem to work now I can't imagine it'd be long before they start skipping or freezing. If I'm going to add this to my collection, I don't want to have to replace it down the line.

Can you tell I'm talking myself into asking for a full refund? But I'm not quite firm enough yet :/

I totally agree about the principle of the thing... but my annoyance at having shoddy goods deceptively palmed off on me is bumping up against my loathing of conflicts with strangers. Am trying to work up sufficient motivation to refuse
the easy out offered.

You know, the fact that he offered you the easy out actually suggests to me that he might do this often, and realizes that people are more likely to take said easy out. And so he gets to go on doing what he did to you. Perhaps this is a cynical reading of the facts, but I don't think so. I say send it back.

Ugh, I am terrible at situations like this as well, so even though I say you should ask for a full refund, I would probably never manage it myself. =/
