Sioux City Riverssance 2014

It's been several years since I was able to visit the Sioux City 'Riverssance' Renaissance festival. It's perhaps the last of the small Iowa faires not run by a certain organizer who, as soon as I see he involved, causes me to lose any interest. I understand your complain about loud, canned music.

Overall it was (is) a fun little faire. One guy said it was sort of like the old Nishna faire in that it was an end-of-season rennie note-exchange that happened to have some other folks around. That's not quite true. As part of Riverssance, there are more than a few 'normal' patrons and unlike Nishna, it looks like it actually makes some business sense, having the advantage of being in a populous place.

This is, as far as I can tell, the last of the "little Iowa faires" that are not put on by one particular organizer who is known for, well, being cheap. Not thrifty, cheap. Jay & I lost interest in attending his events some time ago. We are told that one he is involved with has had his influence de-emphasized, so might give it a try next year - but likely it'd be a one-day visit. We had another report that this just shifted his influence some and that entertainment was pretty good, but we should not risk eating anything sold on-site.
