My husband is a gadget freak, so I have an iPhone. My former professor from college texted me last night. In the years I've owned the phone, she's the second person to have texted me.
I would have used the phone in college, but my dorm room had such bad reception that it was basically a brick.
After years of resisting cell phones, we finally got one last year (friend who was separating from her husband was stuck with his phone and plan, so she offered for us to take it over, as we were her only friends without a cell). I'll admit it comes in handy, but we only have the one (regular-type cell phone). Me being a techno-geek, I'd love to have one for myself, and iPhone is top of the list, mainly because I already have an iPod Touch, which is very similar. It'll probably be quite a while before I get it though, as it's more than I can afford right now (what with jobless and all), the current cell phone is on as basic a plan as there can be, not because of budgetary constraints (though that was a factor) but mainly because we rarely use the thing, mainly for emergencies and the like. Were I to get an iPhone, I'd definitely take advantage of its internet connectivity and burn a hole through it's 3G port or whatever.
And, yes, being Canuck, answered "other" for the carrier. (Telus, and iPhone seems to only be on Rogers.)
Interesting poll, the first one should have Windows Mobile as an option. It's a major enough to have as an option, as does one for Blackberry.
The second one could use an option for Alltel as a provider. It too is a major carrier covering primarily the rural area. (even though it's been sliced up from a buyout out to Verizon, AT&T, and Atlantic Tele-Network. In its current form. It's still operating as Alltel)
This poll was inspired by the latest iPhone release, so I left it as iPhone and "other" pretty much. I knew I wouldn't get all of the carriers on the second question, but just did a couple quick web searches ans stopped rather than go nuts looking for everything around. Now that you mention it, it is curious that Alltel didn't show up in those lists I used.
