The LiveJournal control is mal-designed.

The disable link doesn't work.

The cookie didn't last (and I didn't clear it.)

So it's come to this:

root@caspian # more /etc/hosts

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.2 spa.snap.com # keeps the st00pid out.

I don't like fiddling with the hosts file like that and rightly I should not have to for this. Had LJ ( Read more... )

I'm fortunate to have not seen this crap, no doubt thanks to noscript, but...

This may help you as an alternative to mucking with the hosts file. This explains why the cookie didn't last.

If all else fails, you're within your rights to just blackhole snap.com any way you see fit. All is fair in love and war, and web browsing, after all.

Thanks. I just finally did the Opera upgrade today, and with that have now added the two items to the block list. I still have the hosts modified hosts file as that will work for all browsers I might use, but at least next time I copy over the .opera settings I'll be a little ahead.
