While going through my MFF photos as well as seeing some photos others took a few things became apparent. Other things were apparent without needing any photos to tell me so.
- Orvan needs to look up more, or at least not down quite so much.
- I need to be sure to put Orvan's belt on under his tail.
- Orvan needs slightly longer shorts, and those shorts should have belt loops.
- Deliveries actually go fairly quickly and so more of them can be done without burning the bit out.
- Needing help to locate a recipient won't hurt the bit. It could even make the bit.
- Having a photographer/assistant along is not needed, but is quite nice. It would be nice to have photos of Orvan's third delivery, for example.
- Orvan could use "business cards" to give to folks who take his picture so he (I) can get copies. I'd like to see any pictures of Orvan in the plush toy pile (MFF Sunday night), for example.
- Orvan should spend some time outside during the day when light is good and good photos can be taken.
- The candy giveaway bit works, but a different container would be good. One such that any sign on it is completely visible in any photo.
- Orvan needs to "overact" for photos and make the still shot seem more alive.
And I'm most likely missing something, but that's a good start. Oh yeah, I should actually make it to the fursuit performance panels...
A couple other things also came up. I have to remember that some folks might not be comfortable with Orvan as they don't know who is under the fur, even if they might be comfortable with me. I thought I ran into this one, but fortunately that was not the case. The reverse was somewhat the case, with a concern about how Orvan, or the person under the fur, would react to some things.
I once asked if
fursuitting was infectious. It might be. I might have caught it from Draconis (
jugularjaguar) and
chakawolf at RCFM. It also seems a bit addictive. I had been idly pondering attending a furcon other than MFF or RCFM if I could and, before MFF, had figured I might fly to it and not bring Orvan so as to minimize transport hassles and worries. Now I'm not sure I'd want to attend a con without a 'suit of some kind.
The infection or addiction is worse than that, though. I'm already pondering an additional 'suit or two already and Orvan has only really been out once. Granted, nothing says anyone has to limit themselves to one character, and it will most certainly be a while before I do much of anything about another. It's just a bit jarring to me that I'm having these thoughts. One idea is not at all fully formed (expect a poll sometime) and another is admittedly silly, but has generally gotten chuckles when I've mentioned it to folks.
