Tonight jmaynard and I will be going to New Ulm to see the Martin Luther College Renaissance Festival folks at one of their weekly meetings. This time we'll be dressing for it, which means when I get home I get to change. This, as Jay pointed out this noon, takes a bit of time, which might well cause a sufficient delay that we would miss the start of ( Read more... )

Most places, dining out doesn't have to be a caloric disaster. Skip the beer, get fruit for dessert, and have something like a chicken ceasar salad (or the closest equivalent wherever you're eating) and you'll be fine.

It sounds like you need a few more major disasters in your life, like the rest of us have, so you will appreciate why relatively small problems like this one loom so large for you right now.

Just being facetious. May the rest of your life be this untroubled.

Please, not the brown doublet.

As for food? Oh, the german cooking. After all how many calories could be in Saurbrauten?

Similarly, I don't mind doing chores, except when I suddenly have to do them.

For instance, it's my job to do the dishes. All I have to do is put the clean ones away, load up the dishwasher, and start it up. Most of the time I'm perfectly happy to do that. But if I forget to do them until it becomes oh-crap-gotta-do-a-load-NOW urgent, I hate doing it! Usually because I was in the middle of doing something else, and now that's what I've got my mind on and I feel like doing the dishes is an interruption and a waste of potential fun-project time!
