I could say that about a lot of movies these days. In olden times, movies used to be based on books or Broadway plays, and there was too much story, so the moviemakers had to squeeze and trim and tighten the script to get it to fit into 2 hours, so you ended up with a finely-crafted movie. Nowadays, movies start with a screenwriters idea, the idea gets stretched thin and repeatedly bludgeoned to death by editors, directors, producers, and other writers, and you end up with 2 hour long movies that might have made decent 15 minute short subjects.

Yep, today there are many, many people involved in the making of films, but there are very few filmmakers.
