kelloggs2066 mentioned strange cults and odd beliefs and the Moon Landing Hoax Conspiracy came up. While the items pointed to by those pushing the hoax can be explained, that may not be the best way of countering the nonsense. While responses to the accusation are needed, lest it be said that "you haven't accounted for x" there is another way to counter it

And you have to convince the Russians, our competition at the time, to not detect the fakery and trumpet the deception to all the world. It would have been a major coup if the Russians could do that. And they were listening, very carefully, every foot of the way there and back for anything that would make us look bad.

The point is, we did go to the moon, we have rocks to prove it (I've held one in my hand, in fact), the russian space antennas were all locked on us and the angles they were at prove that the signals were coming from the moon. And before anyone says tape recorder, let me ask how a tape recorder responds to live questions from reporters asking questions over the radio?

We went, it's as simple as that. And now we are going to go again. Hopefully this time we'll hang around and mine all that lovely He3 that's laying about.

One of the biggest bits of so-called "proof" that the hoaxters claim are the strange pictures that Nasa released, particularly this one. At any rate, they all claim that the photos are "doctored" and/or "faked".

Wanna really tweak their noses? Postulate that NASA did alter the photos. To hide the evidence that they found aliens on the moon.
