I don't agree with that at all. The author is converting an attitude (which is highly subjective) into a blanket statement, the attitude being optimistic.

You should get yourself an LJ id, BTW - it's free, and I've seen you leave comments in a few of my friends' LJs.

Well, the Alchemist is one kind of a "self help" book. I usually don't like such books, but this one is an exception.

Oh man! This is the statement I loved too! BTW, Zahir, Coelho's new book is also good. I got to read excerpts from this book and looks interesting to me!
