Yikes! This was scary and painful and awesome. I particularly enjoyed how you had Sam conflate Samuel's torture with that of Lucifer's, how you involved Michael, and oh my god poor Sammy.

I particularly enjoyed this line because it chilled me in a whole different way:

“I know you can’t remember what happened during our time together,” Samuel says calmly, and something hard and pointy is set against Sam’s palm, digging in and No. “But rest assured that you deserve this.”

O.O *shudders*

I'm happy you liked this! Considering you're one of my favorite authors, I'm even more happy.

It's kind of sad that there was never anything about Sam's soulless days now he remembers everything. It's like that never happened. And yes, I know, the show has only so many minutes and dealing with that guilt trip (or with the general Hell-problems) would take time they need to focus on Dean's issues some more, but still, it's a bit of a disappointment.

What makes it sad is that the only Sam that Samuel knew was Robo!Sam, who, as we saw in 6.13, was a hundred times WORSE without Dean acting as his Jiminy Cricket. I can imagine the unease and slow terror that must've stewed within Samuel over the one year that he spent with Sam - and, I'm sorry to say, I can sort of understand why'd he want to do this, and why he'd chosen Sam.

You're right. Perhaps now that he's able to control his memories of what happened in the Cage, the awful things that he did while soulless don't seem to matter? Maybe he's accepted that what he did wasn't exactly his fault and completely outside of his control and moved on? I can't imagine this being Sam's personality right now, although considering how quickly he forgave Dean - how quickly he accepted Dean's justification - for killing Amy, it just might be.

... Now, THAT's chilling.

The thing is, I don't even think Sam really accepted Dean's justification that easily. To me it felt more like he knew that Dean needed him and that therefore they couldn't afford to keep up their argument. Which meant that Sam had to give in and let Dean come out on top.
Which also makes for a very unhealthy relationship, in the long run.

The authors probably didn't intend it that way, I'm aware of that. But if they really had Sam mean what he said (about how he would've done the same), then they should go back and rewatch a couple of episodes.

I agree with you about Samuel. Robo Sam must have been a very chilling person to have around, in the uncanny valley kind of way.

Can we please hope Dean shot him? Grandpappy's obsession with bringing back Mary was ridiculous.

I'm glad that Michael tortured too. I can't see him being innocent while in the cage.

Dean did, in fact, shoot him. That's how it happened in my head. I actually had a scene written with Bobby hearing the shot and Dean telling him it was self-defense, in the end it felt wrong to add that so I left it here.

Ahhhhhh hun this was awesome! Wow. So much better than I was ever hoping for!

My favorite part would have to be the end.

“No, you just want the best for her!” Dean spits. “Pull her out of Heaven where she’s at peace, where she’s happy, and throw her down to a stinking warehouse beside the mutilated corpse of her son? You think she’d thank you for that? I bet you would have been just thrilled to come down here and find her body cooling before you with someone saying, oh, yes, we did that for you, congratulations.”

“You wouldn’t understand,” Samuel snarls with tears of anger in his eyes. “You have no idea what it means to love someone that much.”

Under Dean’s palm Sam doesn’t move. Dean aims the gun a little higher. “Yes, I do,” he says.

Just so chilling yet so right for Dean's season 6 mindset. I LOVE how you wrote Samuel as well.

I just loved everything about this!

So glad this did not disappoint!
I kind of wish they had kept Samuel around a little longer to meet the real Sam, and Dean's wrath. That would have been cool.

I loved this, it was so chilling but so amazing. Just poor Sam *hugs him* he can't catch a break can he? I loved Dean being the awesome big brother and trying to save Sam.

Scary and very nice! I like HOW the wall snaps, how the real life torture transmutes smoothy into the Hell-memory torture, and how Dean is really probably going to shoot Samuel in the head in a second.

The line about Sam hearing Dean's voice almost constantly when he was in Hell is SO SAD.

Oh, Sam. *sniff* I hope you get better...at least a little...at least eventually...

Dean definitely did shoot him in the head. (I actually wrote it, then took it away because it didn't feel right, but yeah, he did.)

So glad you liked this! :)
