I enjoyed reading this : D Slightly off topic (though not really, I thought of it during the question of how many languages you speak), I do medical transcription for a living, and I have to say some of my favorite doctors are Indian. Why? Because their English is better than most Americans. So precise, and the grammar -- to die for. A pleasure to type. Assuming their accents aren't too thick, that is.
As someone who loves Sound of Music THIS much, you have to see (if you haven't already) the "Will and Grace" (TV show) episode centered around it. By far my favorite of the series. :)
I think we've got very precise grammar drummed into us for years and years, which is why we sometimes sound so stiff and formal while speaking. But it's better to err on the side of formality, I suppose. I remember sending off a very proper, formal letter to the Admissions Office of one of the schools I was applying to in the US, and she pretty much replied going, "Heyyyyy!" and I felt very silly after that, lol.
I shall find this episode on the internets and I shall watch the shit out of it. I'm surprised I haven't seen it actually- Will & Grace aired here for a fair bit of time. Hmm.
1. What is the one bit of Kolkata I should absolutely not miss going to if/when I go there? And what do you miss about Kolkata the most right now? And on a sort-of-related note, do you prefer saying Calcutta or Kolkata?
2. Would you say you have a romantic heart? Was there a great, big defining moment when you realised you were in love, or was it a slow gradual process? Did your notion of what love was match up to reality? This question is basically me going, "What are your thoughts on love?" Be as specific or general as you would like. (Note: Be specific because I want a luuuurve story, thanks).
3. If you wrote a book (or if you've already written one), what would it be about? Who (as in, target group) is it meant for and why?
4. What is your favourite poem? Why do you like it?
5. What is your favourite Bengali word? Please to provide pronunciation guide.
Now go forth and talk about only you for a bit. :D
