I am very glad to have found my linen pants from two summers ago sitting in my drawer, waiting for another May to bring them out of their hibernation and back into the regular rotation of my wardrobe

I know this message is long over due so... HI! Long time no talk..
I'm doing okay. Going to college now (RCC) and I'll be headin' over to CBU next year. What more is there to say for those of us still in the Riverside area? :) And how're you doing?

Well I am going to Biola, and in a few weeks I am going to Greece and Turkey for THREE WEEKS! I am so excited. So so so excited. I'm finishing up my second year at Biola, and I am studying English and I am on track to get my teaching credential. That's about it. I don't know if I am going to teach, but it's a good thing to be able to do. There is always work in education. :)
I was there a year ago, and totally love the place. The prices are pretty much geared to North American standards, except for the museums. I would LOVE to go back!
I know that "Istanbul" means "The City," but when I see "The City" I think of San Francisco, since my parents were raised in the Bay Area and that's what everyone calls San Francisco.
Thanks for sharing your photos! I am so excited. I'm looking at our itinerary now, and we really only have one full day in Constantinople, which is kind of a disappointment. But there is always so much to see!
By chance, do you know anything about the Chrysovalandou monastery? I would like to know if there is anything left of it, since it was my patron saint's monastery. I wrote to a monastery in New York asking for more information, but they did not respond to me. I've read that it was in or near Constantinople.
If you don't have a camera yet, GET ONE!!! I bought my first digital camera the day before I left for Greece in 2003, and I am so glad that I did. These days you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a decent model.
My Lonely Planet guidebook for İstanbul doesn't mention anything about the monastery. A friend of a friend works for the Patriarch, so I'll send him an email and see what we can find out.
I got a digital camera for Christmas this past year. Nothing really fancy, just a point-and-shoot model, but it has served me well thus far, and I like it a lot.
Thanks for looking into that for me. Also, we are meeting with one of the Patriarch's aides or something, and we might get to meet with him personally. His Grace Bishop Joseph wrote us a letter on introduction, since there are quite a few of the travelers who are in his diocese, so hopefully that will help. :)
