I am very excited. It is pretty stupid, but I am nonetheless. I happened to stop by Trader Joe's today, and found them selling real fresh tart cherries. This is a big deal for me because I love sour cherries, but for some reason this is the first time I've seen them being sold in stores. When I lived in Maryland I would go to some local orchards

In other news, I never cease to be amazed and amused at the inefficiency of government agencies. I got a letter from the IRS telling me that apparently they owe me money. It is not much, so not that exciting, but what *is* notable is that this letter did not actually include this check. It was just a letter letting me know that a check will be in the mail in the next couple of weeks. Is it just me or is that just ridiculous? No doubt, a few weeks after I get the check I will receive another letter telling me that if I hadn't yet received a check I will need to fill out a form that will be mailed to me another couple of weeks later.

It's the economic stimulus check (i.e., helicopter money). I got a similar letter, and yes, it's really, really dumb. I didn't get a second letter, though.

well, no. I already got my stimulus check, and I got a letter beforehand as well, but I didn't think anything of it because I had the money deposited directly into my bank account. I just figured they wanted some sort of a paper trail so that i know why theres suddenly money in my account. this is money owed to me from 2006.

I know I've picked cherries in Maine, but I think it was later in the year. I'm also not sure if they were sour or sweet. It would make sense for less sweet varieties to grow in colder climates because I know heat causes fruit to have more sugar in it (hence global warming has led to stronger wines).

I got a similar letter for my tax return - they notify you that a check's in the mail....
