ugh...its always sad to discover that people that write beautiful intelligent books are just people and have ugly and stupid views. theres a more detailed post here, but my mind finally switched into russian mode, and now it wont switch back (translating into english is hard)

I watched more than one person have a real crisis when they discovered that Orson Scott Card was not only a passionate Mormon, but rabidly homophobic. One gay friend was a die hard Card fan who grew up loving the works and trying to embody some of the positive principles therein, only to be so repulsed that he purged his library of all Card material.

Creatives of all sorts are people too, so it is best sometimes to separate the art from the artist.

yeah i had that sort of a reaction to card too...but it bothered me a bit less...maybe because i didnt actually get into arguments with him...

i was talking here about a really quite good fantasy writer Sergei Lukianenko, most notably author of "Night Watch"
and by fantasy here i mean more like Gaiman and less like Lackey
