There are free web hosting out there, but I'm not sure how they measure up. For paid services, I recommend square space. I've been looking into hosting room myself for a personal site and so far they seem to be a great site.

Depends on how much space you are looking for.

100MB of storage on sites.google.com and it allows for collaboration.

If you don't mind $50 a year in costs, combine that with Google Apps to get a domain name and 10GB of storage per $50 user.

i go through godaddy. i pay about $100 for two years. i've got 10GB of space. i mostly use it as a storage place for photos i've taken at family gatherings, vacations, or amt-like stuff.
