I saw this at Clyde's place and I still don't get it. To me, it looks like this essay is saying "The Republicans are doing the same stuff they always do, but because the Democrat is black, it must be about while privilege."
We've always had a vice presidential candidate who is so inexperienced and with these off-limit family situations? No, this is different, besides having a candidate to compare who is African American. The difference is obvious between this election & previous ones.
Have you ever heard a person of color brag about being a gun enthusiast? What would people think? This is not just an election year thing, it's every day. Democrats are guilty of fearing people with darker skin also.
Yes, the Republicans have always used similar tactics, but they have also had white privilege. Did you see how white the Republican convention was in comparison to the Democratic Convention? People will vote based on skin color - that's a fact.
You mean the family situation that the entire country has been talking about for weeks? This family situation? Having spent the last couple of weeks trying to convince people to leave Bristol Palin alone and focus on her mom's record and being completely ignored, I can assure you that nothing resembling limits have been in place.
As for African American policians who are gun enthusiasts, how about former Congressman J.C. Watts, who gave the keynote address at the NRA national convention in Charlotte in 2000? Is saying "I've said it publicly many times, and will say it once again: I am the NRA. I am proud of the principles you are fighting for" enthusiasm enough
