Yet Another thing we have in common... igosm October 19 2007, 21:56:43 UTC
Mine stays at E above C. But I can drown mine out. I find that nothing helps.. If you find something that helps let me know. I think it's the damn concert speakers from my youth!! We never stopped cheering for Frampton.

My husband has had it for years - probably due to music, though I don't know that he went listened to music louder than I did or went to more concerts (we've been together since he was 16) - we're each different. I've done a little research, though I don't want my condition to take over my life - I have lost of other things to do, and I've also been openly talking about it. Turns out more people have tinnitus than I would have realized if I had not gotten it. Also, one study took teenagers or young adults who claimed not to have any tinnitus and put them in a silent room and something like 93% heard some kind of ringing in their ears. Most seem to have it to the degree that it's easy to put out of mind unless it's totally silent and some even then, too ( ... )

Nasty stuff, tinnitus blogger1947 October 21 2007, 23:16:54 UTC
I have had tinnitus for close to 40 years, perhaps longer. It's one of those things where you don't mark your calendar when it began, and the next thing you know, it's a constant companion.

Mine could stem from the fact that I've played the trumpet for 50+ years, or that I drink a lot of coffee.

Although I would make book that it started in earnest back in the late 60s when I had "comp" tickets in the fourth row for a concert at Painters Mill Music Fair. It was a double bill of Led Zepplin and The Who.
