Rant number 3 of 3 for today: Special Educational Needs.

As most of you will know, I work at secondary school for children with learning disabilities, otherwise know at a "special school."  At the moment I really don't see what is so "special" about it.  Our students have very individual needs, they are indeed special and the curriculum we teach should be suitably specialised towards these needs in order ( Read more... )

I agree with you on all 3 of these rants - we sadly seem to live in a world where reality, rationality and respect are dirty words. :S I regularly find myself despairing at the "news" in the mainstream media given that its content seems to consist mainly of sensationalised and biased coverage of 'real' stories complete with meaningless statistics, interspersed with features on non-news - "Celebrity X wears the SAME OUTFIT TWICE" and the like to break up the scaremongering.

And I could (and indeed often do) rant about chav "culture" and official policies that treat people as identical, interchangeable, homogenised blocks of meat, but I think you've covered many of my main points already.
