A Kitten and Her Toys

Once whatever last minute briefing that was needed was done, it was all Diziara could do to not run onto the Trafalgar and start adjusting settings to enjoy the flight down as much as she could. The year posted on 668, with only the one short trip out in the borrowed Delta Flyer that came in with an Admiral, left Diziara craving flight, especially of the small craft sort.

Once she made it into the craft in the most dignified manner she could (she skipped like a school girl), grin plasted across her face ear to ear, she happily tore at the settings. The first setting she "fixed" was the inertial dampeners, down to 95% those went. Second, she adjusted the flight control system's sensitivity, finding the standards settings sluggish for anyone but a text book pilot with no natural instinct. Satisfied the Trafalgar was ready for flight, she waited for her crewmates to join her in the craft.

While waiting, she rested her head against the console, and petted it as she muttered softly "My Precious". When she noticed Spiegel had caught up, her head snapped up and she turned to him. "Spiegel! Flight music!" she ordered. Spiegel happily hit the computer, and soon Buck's Boogie by Blue Öyster Cult was blasting forth from the comspeakers.

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I'd like to thank you for choosing Death Kitten Airlines for your away mission flight needs. Our destination today is the planet Delta Crux III, a short hop of 7.2 km outside of its main town, Zzyzx. For the take off portion of our flight, we ask that you keep your tray-table stowed, your seat in the upright position and your seatbelts fastened." Diziara paused a moment, looked around, and continued as she initiated the takeoff sequence, seeing everyone safely seated. "For the pilot's accuracy, the inertial dampeners have been reduced to 95% for the duration of this flight, air sick bags are replicatable upon request. All your in flight needs will be served by Mr. Spiegel."

"I've been promoted!" Spiegel beamed. "She usually makes me replicate the airsick bags," he confided to AJ, who'd had the (mis-)fortune to select the seat next to Spiegel.
