My earliest memory is of my father. He's sitting in his bathrobe drinking tea while I stare up at a reflection of water on the ceiling. He explains the properties of reflection and refraction while I hope desperately that a swimming pool has magically grown up in the yard overnight. I'm truly sorry for your loss.
From what I gather, daughters tend to be deeply attached to their fathers. But when father is a remarkable person at that, which apparently was the case with your Dad, the feelings involved and the unique nature of relation are inexplicable.
