[ the sound of gently rolling waves prefaces the voice feed that clicks on, a few seconds of that and maybe the distant call of a Wingull every now and then. In January it will be a year since I arrived. I must admit that the more time I spend here, the more it feels like I've always been here.

It's a warm feeling for those of us who don't have a place to go back to, but I can understand that it would make other people feel conflicted.

The ones who don't have something to go back to... I can't even imagine what it must be like for them.

The chance of a new beginning is something very few get, so getting here was fortunate for many.

How many people are there like that, do you suppose? It might not just be coincidence that they were brought here. Maybe there's a purpose.

[Since Shiraishi's a) in a cave and b) a little bruised he will do himself a favour and reply to things with a voice feed, rather than a video. Suzaku might remember the voice from an egg post.]

I know quite a few who have been here for over a year... but I've also heard of cases where someone is around for only a few weeks or a month. [Like a few from their own world.]

Though you're right about the "starting to feel like home" feeling. It's sometimes hard to imagine what life would be without the daily Pokémon things.

[ he does, somewhat! though he's just as conversational either way. ]

Mm. I suppose it's all up to the whims of whoever's responsible for all of this. The ones who are kept longer don't really have much of a choice but to adapt.

Yeah. No matter how much you're against the place when you arrive you have to get used to it if you want to make it here.

In a way, I guess that's true for anything. But it's especially prevalent for a place that shouldn't ordinarily exist.

It is strange, isn't it? I've been here for a year and a half and I can't imagine what it would be like to leave everything behind, whether I remember any of it or not.

I can't, either. Though mostly it's how close I've become to my team. [ pause. ] Arthur would be jealous if he knew.

I'm very close to my team as well. We're like a big family now.

... Was Arthur a friend back home?
