→ general deference and politeness
→ English accent
→ old-fashioned speech
things that would be not so obvious;
→ he's a servant
→ very protective of his master (this one becomes very obvious if you're threatening said boy)
→ actually quite impatient/temperamental (this one would be quite hard to catch, but if it's shining through at all, it'll be mentioned in narration)
→ he's quite tense about letting anyone new around the young master (again, very hard to catch, but easier if the boy's actually present)
things that may be picked up on but i would prefer not to have them brought up in public;
→ he did have immense power back in his universe, which he's very unhappy about losing (could be deduced after a while at your discretion)

things that would be obvious: Good god his accent. In Japanese, he has a pretty thick Kansai-ben; in the universal language, it's still VERY noticeable, but probably a little harder to place ( ... )

→ tennis. tennis tennis tennis? he plays tennis.
→ he has these sharkish grins, meant to unnerve and intimidate. they're rarely sincere.
→ he avoids direct questions, especially of an emotional nature.
→ he constantly works to confuse people by being nonsensical and unpredictable.
things that would be not so obvious;
→ he plays pretend constantly. 90% of his behaviour is put on, half of what he says is bullshit.
→ he cares seriously deeply for his captain and his partner.
→ he's a little gay (like 30%) and a lot in denial.
→ his slouch and his saunter are also fake. he's had dance training; he's actually very graceful.
→ he holds people at arm's-length because he's afraid of emotional commitment.
→ he's very analytical, very left-brained.

+ He speaks very formally, unless agitated.
+ He's heavily scarred -- on the right side of his face, especially.
+ Built like a cross between a tank and a linebacker -- man is xbox huge.
+ Frequently uses robot terms for body parts or actions (i.e. "optics" instead of eyes, "recharge" instead of sleep, etc)
+ He is incredibly stubborn. Also old. Also cranky.
+ He's a soldier. A weapons master.

+ He has a vague sort of accent. There's a slight English pronunciation to some of his vowels.
+ He has a nasty temper if pushed.
+ He's particularly devoted to protecting his friends/companions.
+ Hates on Decepticons. Hate hate hate loathe entirely.
+ Ironhide adopts kids -- and is fiercely protective of them, especially.
