[The video starts with Naomi sitting with a small kitten that hatched from an egg not too long ago. The cat isn't sitting in Naomi's lap, and every time she tries to pet it, she either gets bitten or pawed at. Naomi is looking at the kitten, but as she speaks, she's not talking to the cat.]In the few weeks that I've been here, I've found that I've ( Read more... )

I think Pokemon just like battling. [Scott pondered, with his Furret chilling next to him. All chilled.] I never thought I was unwelcome here...

...But you get the badges to try and become the champ and be awesome!

It's possible. If pokemon could talk, they might have something to say about it. But we can't.

...Do you think that's the only benefit to being champion?

...What do you mean? [Scott hasn't really thought about the champeonship other than wanting to impress people.]

Well, if you kidnap a significant number of people like this, and the overarching goal seems to be to these battles, there has to be more of a reason than to impress everyone around you. Especially if a lot of people are concerned about wanting to go home.

I'm inclined to believe the aggression in most of the creatures here is a generally accepted fact, as the locals appear to find it normal.

[He doesn't comment on the 'welcome here'-business, not entirely sure what he thinks of it himself.]

As for the badges, from what I understand, they're simply collected to signify the achievement of having defeated a Gym leader.

[He allows himself a small smile here.]

I'm not sure we'll find any valuable answers soon, but it's good to see you again. It looks like you're faring well.

Do you think they might attack out of fear? Many people here catch these creatures and train them. What if they don't want to be caught? But I guess those aren't answers that I can find.

[she smiles, though disregarding the achievements. She has no interest in gym leaders currently.] Thank you. It's good to see you too. But all of this snow hasn't faired well for travel.

It's definitely a possibility. Over time, that aggression could have developed into a defense mechanism. But that doesn't explain how they choose to attack rather than stay in hiding.

[This is worth pondering. And yes, the snow has been quite a hindrance.]

It hasn't. Still, I enjoy it. I haven't seen a proper snowfall like this for years.

[She nods. It may be something psychological.]

Where are you from originally, Dale?

'S better if you don't try to think of it logically. Ever play video games?

On occasion. To be honest, I prefer books. But if the opportunity ever came across I'd play puzzle games like Tetris.

This place kinda works like an RPG. The Pokemon attack because they're acting like random enemy encounters do in video games.

Something like that. Or capability.

Hmmm. Do you think it reflects the trainer or of the creature itself?

They just like to fight! Animals do it too! They ain't all that aggressive, but it's what they want!

I know that animals act similarly, but it's not like the average person walks through the woods and suddenly gets attacked by birds and mice every ten or so steps?
