[After a productive (but admittedly somewhat boring) five hours of work sorting and filing papers at the Cherrygrove Pokémon Center, it's finally time for Yagyuu to head for home--or at least, for the room at the Cherrygrove Inn he's been sharing with Kirihara-kun since they both arrived in the city yesterday. He'd gladly work longer hours if they'

she leaves plenty of room between herself and Yagyuu as she lands, softly, first on her hind legs, then onto all fours. on her back, three youths, all of which familiar.
one of them smiles tiredly, before looking back to the other two. well, go on.]

This is not going to be a hug. Not a hug not a hug not a hug not a hug-
He punches Yagyuu in the arm, and says nothing, because 'hey, loser' is the only thing he can think of, and that's stupid. ]

It shouldn't be as moving as it is, perhaps, to see them all in front of him. He knew they were here. He's already encountered Kirihara-kun. He's seen them just about every day of his life for the past three years. It's certainly not as though they're unexpected or unfamiliar. But it's more than just his teammate this time, it's his captain, his partner. And at the moment, there's no one he'd wanted to see more.
Which is part of the reason why he has to hide a smile as Niou's punch connects, unhindered, with his arm. It seems he's not the only one who's happy to see his partner, after all.
(But he doesn't rub it, either, because that would be like letting Niou win.) ]I probably deserved that, having kept you waiting so long. Hello ( ... )

[ His tone is derisive, but he can't help a grin. Yagyuu can't really hide a smile, not from Niou, not right now, not any more than Niou can hide his own. Six fucking months, and they're finally together again.
Yagyuu deserves way more than a punch on the shoulder, but with so many people looking on, Niou doesn't dare. ]

And immediately flips. out.
Teenaged boy of roughly the right height and build. Yellow shirt. Brown hair of the correct length. Glasses. Is that..?
No. No, Midori, it isn't Keisuke don't--]
KEISUKE!
[. . . Dammit. Have an excited teenage girl ATTACHED TO YOU IN A RIDICULOUS HUG OUT OF NOWHERE, Yagyuu. I am so sorry.]

The bad news is, he definitely wasn't expecting to hear it in person. Nor was he expecting a RIDICULOUS HUG OUT OF NOWHERE because, y'know. Personal space, what is it. So as it is, he's stock-still at the moment, unspeaking, eyes slightly wide behind his glasses as he attempts to process the sudden appearance of very warm and affectionate girl smothering all over him.]

I didn't know you were here! Oh man, I missed you!
[She adds a bit more squeeze to that huge, not yet realizing that something is very wrong.]
I was so worried! You should have posted something to the network!

So instead, he just gets a hand free and lands it on the girl's shoulder, pushing gently but firmly in a slightly frantic attempt to dislodge her.]
Excu--excuse me. Miss. Miss.

Ah, hello, Kirihara-kun. Did you have a good day?

Yep! Training's going well!
Reply
[Because really, it was a relief to have his Pokémon out of his hair for the day, and Kirihara-kun seemed so enthusiastic about training them, so the arrangement was mutually beneficial.]

Hello, Oshitari-kun. You're off work too?

[an afterthought;] And you can drop the Oshitari stuff, I don't think I know anyone who doesn't call me Kenya.

[A wry smile creeps across his lips.]
And I'll keep that in mind, Oshitari-kun.
