Third War - [Action for Cherrygrove]

Feb 06, 2011 23:53

[Later at night, another person enters the town of Cherrygrove. Rider looks around, her Ponyta standing next to her. Thanks to his growing speed, they managed to cut down their travel time to only two and a half days. However, he needs rest now, and Rider needs to get out of the cold.

Hearing a chirp, Rider turns her head as a small Pidgey lands on ( Read more... )

[And guess who chose just that moment to step out of the nearby Pokemon Center with a new fishing rod in his hand? That's right, this guy. Because dammit, no matter what time of night it was, Lancer was not going to let those damn Magikarp win.]

[He stopped in his tracks upon seeing Rider; on one hand his common sense as Servant Lancer told him he should start attacking immediately. That course of action would have made sense, were they back in Fuyuki.]

[On the other hand, Cú Chulainn was not the kind of man that attacked a woman unprovoked. The two of them had already established that a life or death battle would serve no purpose.]

...Rider.

[His voice was calm, even casual as Lancer deliberately called attention to himself with a smirk on his face. Hopefully he'd get the sparring match he'd been looking forward to while they were in the same city.]

[It always sucks to be bested by a fish, doesn't it?

Rider turned as her name was called out, immediately growing tense when she should spot none other than Lancer. Her Ponyta can sense the growing tension and stamped nervously on the ground.]

Lancer.

[...this was a pretty serious atmosphere for a situation where he'd already decided not to fight. He gave Rider a smile and a slight wave, strangely cheerful for someone who was talking to a possible enemy.]

Did you just get here?

[If neither of them were technically Servants as long as they were here, they were on fairly equal ground. He at least knew she wasn't going to suddenly pull out her Noble Phantasm, if nothing else.]

[Rider frowns a bit at Lancer's smile. If anything, that just puts her even more on edge, since it translates in her mind as him being up to something.]

I did.

[The Ponyta paws the ground, lowering his head at Lancer. On her shoulder, the Pidgey chirps his name and tilts his head, obviously confused at the scene.]

[Kiritsugu had been spending time in Cherrygrove. He'd venture out for a couple days at a time and return, taking the time to train his single Pokemon that he hadn't expanded on.

More importantly, he kept an eye on who came and left the place. Call it paranoia or just a simple want for information, he was almost always watching at every chance he got.

As for now, Kiri was leaning up against the Pokemon Center, one hand stuck in his trench coat and the other idly fingering an unlit cigarette. It wasn't hard to recognize Rider as she entered down but he didn't exactly want to draw attention to himself either way. If she wanted to say something, she would. If she didn't, he'd still keep an eye on her.]

[Sensing the pair of eyes watching her, Rider turns her head to see who's around. Her own eyes lock onto Kiritsugu's, and it only takes her a second to recognize him.]

...You are Shirou Emiya's father, are you not?

You have a good memory. Have a nice trip, Servant Rider?

It was an eventful one.

[Chirping, her new Pidgey flies from her shoulder and lands on her head, perching there comfortably. Rider seems to take no notice of it, though, as she's more interested in looking Kiritsugu over at a distance.]
