That was absolutely the most fun I've had in the past few weeks. Of course there were some things that I wasn't completely okay with. But that's not really important.
Fully agreed on all points, especially #2 and #3 on the not-so-great list. Regarding #2, I was just flat pissed, and regarding #3, I very nearly leaped out of my seat and strangled the person who started laughing at the scene with Elizabeth and her father.
Regarding #4 on the not-so-great list -- was that all the content of the "post-credit" scene that people keep telling me about, and for which I, all unknowing, did not stay?
Poor Norrington has been undervalued by everyone, and now we can include the filmmakers in that big group. *sniffles* But the laughing? I hate it when people laugh at things like that. If the dialogue had been hokey or something, that's one thing, but that was just crushing.
It was indeed the post credits stuff. I was lucky I saw it too, actually. It was me and my soundtrack-geek self not wanting to leave and miss the pretty music. XD It's not a long scene, and most of what I have issue with was implied rather than adressed, so who knows, really. Ultimately, I just want to understand how she would suddenly give up pirating after everything that happened in that movie. It sort of makes you go O.o
Got some more details on the post-credits scene from a pretty ranty review of the whole thing, and I agree ... all that just to settle down and have a kid?! Way to undermine your tough female lead, folks...
Yay for the drabble! And yay for the lost Norrington!snark. It would be so like him to bitch about Elysian fields. XD
Everyone's got a theory on that now - some people are saying that she has spent all those years on the sea and just went back to meet him, or something. But there really wasn't any indication of that, so it doesn't have anymore weight than personal canon all-in-all. Which is freaking annoying. Because if anyone could have been a pirate mom, she could have.
Heehee! Brain droppage. They seem to do that a lot lately with the plottyness, don't they? They did the same with the latest Spiderman. It helped for me that I was kind of expecting dense plot. I figured that two was pretty dense and they had way too many loose ends to allow for three to have less plot. But you're right, it could have easily been two more movies.
There definitely wasn't as much silly as the first movie or even the second, but even so, in this movie they'd kind of moved beyond the realm of fun-family-film and into the realm of serious myth arc. Which I think attributed to me not noticing the lack of humor as much as I might have. Jack could have stood to have more double-talking moments, though. When could he not? XD
Yes. Yes, it definitely was. There's a reason that all the classic Most Romantic Film Moments happen during times of certain doom (I'm thinking Casablanca and Empire Strikes Back right off). The sooner people understand this, the sooner we will more movie weddings like that. XD
Barbossa owned that whole fucking movie. I loved the sweet "Daddy's little boy" moment with Jack th' Monkey at the end. ^_^ Oh yeah, and friend me? ~TDEO ^o^
