a. Books
“I can’t believe this,” said Usagi. “I opened the books and study. Even Ami-chan made an effort to help me, but I still ended up getting this kind of mark.”
She sighed, looking at her latest test score. “Rei-chan is right,” she muttered to herself. “If Mamo-chan ever saw this horrible mark...”
Unbeknownst to her Mamoru had just walked to where she was sitting on the bottom of the staircase. “That’s a horrible mark.”
She nodded her head. “Yup, that’s what he’d...” She jumped back against the wall, her test clutched tightly in her hands. “Lovely day isn’t it?” remarked Usagi, startled by his presence.
“Usako...”
“Don’t say another word. I’m going to make some big changes starting with a study group at Rei-chan’s house.” She began to crumple her test into a paper ball.
“That sounds like a good idea,” agreed Mamoru with a smile. “I guess it can’t be helped, but it looks like we should postpone our next date.”
Usagi stared at him, speechless. “But...”
“Good luck, Usako.” Without another word Mamoru walked past her.
“But I was looking forward to it.”
b. Romance
What was it about romance novels that girls nowadays seem to like to indulge themselves in? Mamoru mused, as he walked down the aisle of the romance section.
He picked up the book, Twilight, that Usako and her friends seem to be ranging about these days (except for maybe Ami...he was sure that she had never picked up a romance novel unless the girls forced it onto her).
He randomly flipped the book to the middle of the chapter and stood there, reading for a few minutes. His lips twitched at first and then turned into a frown. In minutes he closed the book and put it in back on the shelf.
Mamoru reminded to himself to have a little talk with Usagi about how vampire stalkers like Edward Cullen were not romantic.
