Too true, but I needed to fit a pocketknife into this drabble somehow and Mamoru seemed like the most likely to have one. Maybe it was a gift from Motoki or something...
Is there going to be more? You kind of left us hanging with this "other girl" (unless they were making it up to get a reaction out of Usa?) And to clue us in on why DOES he have a pocketknife... although it isn't that odd, most of the boys I know carry one.
Anyway, I did love the broken nail thing! Very in character!
Actually they were talking about Usa, I guess I should've made that a little more obvious. In the original version Ami was not in a daze. She took part in the "Mamo-chan's girl" conversation and gave the main hint that they were in fact talking about our darling Usagi. So when I changed that so I would have an ending that I didn't hate I cut that part out and well this is the result... I'll be sure to fix it up for my ff.net version.
As to why Mamo-chan has a pocketknife...no idea. Just thought Ami's question would make a good ending.
Most boys you know carry a pocketknife?!? Wow. That's different, most boys I know carry around Ipods, but to each there own I guess. *grin*
ya. Many guys do carry them. My hubby has one on his keychain. I gave it to him for Christmas a few years ago after he hinted for MONTHS! It has an M on it too! (and also an "A" and a "B")
I liked it! The characterizations were great, especially with the broken nail. I'm just a little confused about the purpose of the last sentence... I don't think it's really necessary unless you're actually going to answer the question (in this story or a sequel) because it's kind of off topic. It might fit in better if you placed it earlier like before Mina says "It should be illegal for a man to be that handsome."
The last sentence was pretty much just for a closing statement. You know the other girls are all serious (or not so serious, whatever) and Ami hasn't been paying attention to anything that's going on. The entire time she's trying to figure out why he has a pocketknife.
To put it simply I had no idea of how to end this drabble.
How is it confusing? If you tell me then I can fix it before I post it on ff.net.
The pocketknife's purpose is 1)it's the theme so it had to be in the drabble somewhere, and 2)so Mamoru has a reason to come over to their booth and the girls can go into there Usagi teasing stage.

(Does anyone else think it's weird that spell check wants to turn Mamoru into Mammary?)

And yes, that is a little strange. *does not even know what Mammary is*
