As of 9:45pm et, CNN is projecting 199 electoral votes for Sen. Obama and 78 for Sen. McCain - do they start celebrating yet? And which station is the fastest in the US, in terms of projecting and giving out results?

I have too! It seems to have a lot less bias, or at least a better outlook and less open opinions that are blatant.

Technically no one starts *really* celebrating until 270 electoral votes are reached, but I suspect it will begin when NC, VA, or FL are called for Obama.

I'm not celebrating just yet, but Ohio is the first indication that Obama has won. Literally all he needs now is Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii and he's over 270. Those are all extremely solid Democratic states. The only question left is by how much he has won, and how many other Democrats are going to make it.

If those 199 electoral votes are solid (we've been having issues with voter fraud in some states again this year), then it's pretty much done with.

To get to 270, Barack Obama needs to carry three states that he has a fifteen point or better lead in - California, Washington and Oregon.

Can McCain catch up?

No. No matter what, he won't carry California, Hawaii, Washington or Oregon. McCain hasn't bothered to campaign there because they were lost causes from the beginning.

The only hope he had was to carry some of the states that have already been called, like Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Election fraud is the only chance he's got anymore.

It is clear now that Obama will win. The only question is by how much. Their are political implications to how much he wins by.
