[Mao can be found at the edge of a large cleared out space in the hangar, tapping away at a laptop. The laptop has some cables running out of it. The cables are stretching all the way up to the two mechs on opposite sides of the cleared out space. Those two mechs are Angelg (How she managed to find a time when Lamia wasn't working on it is anyone's ( Read more... )

In her defense, Lamia was going to work on it, until she came across the sight in the hangar.

"W-what is this?"

I've been working with someone back at MITHRIL on a new program for making mecha capable of performing complex tasks without pilots.

"W-why are you using the A-Angelg and not your personal unit?"

Oddly enough, the reports indicated that if something went wrong, Angelg is so much sturdier than an M9 that fixing the damage would be a far simpler matter.

...I know I'm new here, but can I ask what you're doing to those mechs? And whether you ought to be?

I'm conducting tests with new AI programs, and I got permission from the higher ups. I am totally doing a legitimate, legal thing here.

AI-controlled mobile units...OZ has a similar system in use, don't they?

They're taking it much farther than we plan to. I think the main goal of this project was to make mechs that are able to come to the pilot if the pilot can't get to the mech.

Of course, we're still working out the bugs in the system.

Helping with some new AI research.

Really? What kind?

Well, our ultimate goal is to make it so that if for whatever reason you end up separated from your mech, you can just press a remote control and it will get up on its own and come find you.

-Setsuna is eyeing Mao suspiciously.-

Excuse me. What are you doing to those machines? Do you have proper authorization?

I needed them to test out some new AI software.

And yes, yes I do.

*Loran is on the sidelines, reading the Turn A's manual and taking some notes* Miss Mao, please tell me again what you're doing with the Whitedoll?

Alright, let's do this! (1/2) urzu2 April 9 2009, 05:34:23 UTC
This!

*hits enter dramatically*

[[Turn A Gundam stiffens suddenly, along with Angelg. The two machines approach each other, then they grab each other by the hands as, unexpectedly, tango music suddenly starts up. The two mechs start dancing! Stiffly and kind of awkwardly, but unmistakeably dancing. Mao stands up and pumps her arms in triumph as Turn A dramatically catches Angelg and brings it back up to a standing position.]]

And now the finale!

[[Turn A brings Angelg around in a wide sweeping arc, holding on with one hand. The routine is almost done. But just as they're about to finish, the grip slips! Turn A stumbles, but the autopilot is able to correct for the sudden change in balance in time. Angelg is not so lucky, and is practically flung away, slamming into the inside wall of the hangar and denting it badly.]]

Shit!
